The Kokomo-Howard County Public Library has joined Library Ideas’ network of Public Library websites that offer access to songs from Sony Music’s catalog of legendary artists. The service will allow patrons of the Kokomo-Howard County Public Library to listen to and download songs at no cost to them.

How do I sign in to Freegal?
  1. Click Freegal.
  2. Type in your Library card number and PIN, then click the Login button.
    Note: If you do not have a PIN associated with your Library card or you have forgetten your PIN, please call or visit any Library location to setup or reset your PIN.

 

How Freegal Works

Library users have a weekly download limit of 3 songs.  You will be able to keep track of your downloads in the upper right corner of the site. Every song has a sample clip you can listen to before you download.

The library may have an overall weekly limit, too.  If the Library runs out of downloads for the week, you can go to “My Wishlist” in the upper right corner and queue up for future music.

The downloads on this site are all in the MP3 format with no DRM. This service will work with any MP3 player, including iPod, and can be loaded into iTunes.  It works on both PCs and Macs.

MP3 downloads cannot be saved to Library computers. You must download the files directly to your device, or a USB flash drive. USB flash drives can be purchased at Library locations for a cost of $10 each.

Only Sony and Sony affiliates artists are available on Freegal.

Do I have to have a KHCPL card?
Yes. A Kokomo-Howard County Public Library card is necessary to view and download Freegal music. Patrons must be residents of the Kokomo-Howard County Public Library taxing district and cannot owe more than $10 in fines and fees or be a collection agency patron/parent.
