One of our 'younger' couples, Fred and Jane have been married just over a half-century, exchanging vows in a double ring ceremony at Trinity Methodist Church, on March 27, 1951, with Rev. Frank H. Argelander officiating. Fred was on leave from the Air Force at the time, where he was a staff sargeant stationed in Orlando, and Jane was a senior at Kokomo High School. A brother and sister stood up with them.
Jane kept a scrapbook of their wedding and honeymoon, including her wedding garter, the lucky penny she wore in her shoe, the couple’s first grocery list (which totaled $1.07), the key to the Shamrock Plaza Courts, in Cumberland, Indiana, where they spent their honeymoon, and mementoes from their first home in Orlando.
