Long Term Lovers of Howard County

Gene T. and Thelma J. (Currens) Irvin : 54 Years
Married October 28th, 1943

Gene and Thelma were married in Tipton, Indiana on October 28, 1943. They had 3 children: Tammy J Irvin, Susan K Irvin Tooley, and David E Irvin. Both Gene and Thelma are from Howard County pioneer families. Gene was a descendant of Judge Thomas A Long, one of Howard County's first associate judges, locksmiths and gunsmiths. Thelma is a descendant of Isaac Jessiop, one of the first farmers from eastern Howard County.

Gene served in the Army Air Force, stationed in the Aleutian Islands during WWII. He was a self-employed contractor in the Kokomo area. He enjoyed the outdoors and liked nothing better than to be outside. Thelma worked at Delco Radio and was a homemaker. She was a member of the Kokomo Art Association and Sculptors Guild.
