Prude graduated from Young America H.S. in 1922. Herb was a member of Kokomo H.S.'s Class of 1924, and graduated from Indiana University. Just after his graduation, he and Prude were married in the afternoon of Sunday, May 20, 1928, at the home of her parents by the Rev. Benjamin Kendall of the Main St. Methodist Episcopal Church. Prude wore a white sports outfit and carried Ophelia roses and freesias. The couple traveled through the East before returning to take up residence in Kokomo. Herb owned and ran keyes Fine Meats, a grocery business for 40 years. He and Prude have 2 sons, roger Keyes, of Waco, Texas, and Randy Keyes, of Kokomo, in addition to a deceased son, and 8 grandchildren.
