I grew up as one of eight children on a farm in historical Vincennes, Indiana, where we raised watermelons and cantaloupes among other things.  Nothing keeps you in shape better than working a full day in the hot sun pitching melons.  One of my chores was to milk the cow before school and again in the evening.  We always had lots of fresh milk and homemade butter.   We also canned all the vegetables from the garden and raised chickens for eggs and to eat.  Needless to say, I would much rather be outside gardening than inside cleaning.  I love to crochet and craft and read historical novels, true crime and biographies.
